Writing Poetry Day Two – Shadows and Light

Writing Poetry Day Two – Shadows and Light

I enjoyed creating and playing with words to write poetry today. It is fascinating where it leads once it begins. Sometimes it flows quickly, sometimes it sputters, yet it always finds it’s way home. I created two poems this morning that I wish to share.

I’m playing with words to discover

what lies beneath the surface

and between the spaces

of time and me

finding much I’ve learned

and much still to grasp

the spaces I find

filling up fast

whatever comes into play

I shall discover more

of me I will to see

the journey is opening to all

where we take it now

is up to you

and me

Then there is number two.

Shadows and light

back to back

to my delight

have brought to me

up and out

I’m diving in

the in-between

Shadow playing

light within

Have we only to begin

three fold three

loving into

you and me

Now read them backwards line by line. It is a new discovery for me, reading poetry backwards. I am loving it.

More of My Poetry:

  • A Poem
  • L is for Laughter
  • Mother of Destruction This is something different, not exactly a poem, more like free writing of the dark side. It was a lot of fun to write. If you check it out I hope you will leave a comment and tell me what you think of it.

Thank you for sharing before you leave.

    • Thank you so much! Glad you liked my discovery, reading a poem backwards. It has become a bit of an obsession now; I just have to read them backwards after reading them forwards.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your word love!

  1. How fun!! I have tried that, reading backwards, with other people’s poems but never my own. Now, I am curious.

I also really love the photo.

Two poems this morning? That is huge!

Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow.

Playful poetry always feels so good!

    • Thanks Julie! Nice to know someone else has read poetry backwards on occasion. I felt almost foolish admitting it when I discovered it late last night. I then realized I could introduce it as something to try with my own poetry and see what people thought about it. I know I enjoy discovering how it reads and flows reading it from the bottom up.

The more I write, the more prolific I feel. Prolific is my word for the day. 😀

The photo I took when I was staying at my friends lake house in April. It was on my phone and I recently (this week) added the Instagram app on my phone. I was actually inspired by Tui’s photos this past spring of playing with shadow. That is how I ended up taking this photo. It was a lot of fun.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing word love!
