Wild Woman Waking is making its rounds across the web and today we are visiting Amy at Poetry, Prose, Art, and Creativity. The first time I read one of her poems I knew we were soul sisters, and the first time she commented on one of my poems sealed the deal. Or it could have been in reverse, my menopausal brain plays tricks on me these days.
When I read Amy’s poems, I see myself; I feel her from the inside out, how the pain and pleasure live side by side. That may not make sense to you, heck that may not even make sense to Amy but I feel the connection. Amy is a poet, blogger, artist, and painter and with each one her soul shines through.
A few of my favorites on Amy’s Blog:
The Dreamer – Her most recent poem reminds me how much I see myself when I read her poetry. Her poetry drips with feeling.
October Poems for OctPoWriMo When she wasn’t just writing poetry but she was on the team inspiring others regularly!
My First Mixed Media on Canvas… With Video! I went in search of something special (like her poetry isn’t already quite special) or maybe I mean different. I thought I was looking for one of her posts where she shares her painting with an online Flora Bowley class and what I found was this fascinating video of her creating with something I never would have thought of. Her final creation is quite lovely!
Take a stroll through Amy’s blog and dive into her poetry and art. I guarantee at minimum you will be inspired and at maximum you will walk away feeling something deep has transpired.
Wild Woman Waking Book Launch!
Tui Snider and I combined our talents for this book, her artistic photography mixed with my poetic ramblings creates a unique journey indeed.
Description on Amazon
What part of you have you suppressed, keeping it buried so deep inside that you almost forgot what is most important to you? Almost. As you read the poetic ramblings something stirs inside, your foot starts to tap, and you can hardly sit still. Maybe you turn on some music and dance into this new feeling, moving your hips as thoughts roam your head.
From Wild Woman Waking:
“broken smiles surrounding you
listening to ghostly secrets
desires of the heart
prisoner to your life
woman wake up and dance”
You grab your notebook and pen and begin to write. You realize you can’t sit still anymore because your eyes are wide open. Wild Woman Waking will have you looking at things differently and hopefully taking action for yourself.
Wild Woman Waking: “Sleeping isn’t possible once you explore the inner and outer world of poetry; transformation happens and your eyes open wide.”
If you grew up trying to be what other’s wanted and never sure who you really were or are, now you can choose to live and embrace your inner wild woman and maybe you will be inspired to write poetry of your own! Check out Wild Woman Waking!
