As I write on the first day of 2015 the Buble song, Feeling Good, comes to mind.
I don’t normally use the first of the year to begin new challenges because so many fall away within a few weeks or even a few days. This time feels different. There is a determination to embrace my life fully and do the things that I love that nourish me. All of what I have planned for this year fit within that determination. I hope you find the determination to do what you love and what nourishes you as well.
Day One of #365Prompts:
What will you do differently? What will you do the same? To me it all boils down to that. Write for ten minutes asking yourself those two questions. You can form it as a journal entry, a poem, a list, however you choose.
It all comes down to how you want to live? Do you really want each year to pretty much look the same or are you going to take charge of your life? Are you going to do whatever it takes to live the life of your dreams? What are you willing to do to make that happen? What are you willing to give up?
My journal entry:
I am willing to give up endless hours of television and social media. Not to say that I won’t watch movies or choose one or two shows that I want to watch and do a responsible amount of social media but I tend to go overboard with each of them. I know that with social media it is because of the instant response/gratification. So I am going to find other ways to feed my soul which being in nature, doodling, writing, and photography as well as reading inspiring books do that for me. I also need to get out with friends more often. That is a priority I am going to set for myself this year. That is a little scary for me. I haven’t allowed anyone to get truly close to me sense my ex best friend Sarah (name has been changed). Her name popped up the other day. It wasn’t her it was just someone with the same name. but it had me thinking of her for a split second.
I know I crave family and close friends. I think we all do. We crave that connection, that feeling of being loved no matter what. But the thing is that most of us don’t love ourselves, not really. That’s why we are constantly looking for it on the outside in other people. But they can’t give us what we really need, self acceptance. So how can we truly accept ourselves, flaws and all?
That is what my journey is all about. Discovering my own divinity, the spark of life within and the love that flows there no matter what. So that I can smile, and feel that love no matter what I am doing, no matter what others are doing, no matter what is going on around me. Working with energy every day will help I think. Dancing, listening to music that is uplifting and makes me want to move.
Alright, that feels good. So I will feed my soul so that I don’t need television and social media to give me a quick fix because I am feeling the lack of love or low self worth. I am worthy no matter what. I am a child of our creator, I have a piece of the creator within me, I live and breathe so that the creator can experience all that I experience. It is all good. All experiences are good. All experiences help us to know that we are alive.
