This is my fourth year participating in the A to Z Blogging Challenge. The first two years I didn’t have a theme, at least I didn’t think I did, I just chose words that called to me for each letter and wrote a poem. Of course shadow runs through my poetry so there is typically a theme whether I say it, recognize it, or not.
Last year I actually chose a theme and it didn’t work well for me, I didn’t write posts for many of the letters.
I have gone back and forth with this, should I have a theme, should I not have a theme, and this is what I’ve come up with – I don’t like to limit myself. I don’t like to say I will only write about this – that – or the other. But… know that if you come to my blog during the A to Z challenge, you will be reading poetry – heartfelt, shadowy, feminine, passionate poetry. I believe poetry comes from the deepest places from within, that it can rhyme, or not, it can be in form or free form. For me, poetry has no rules and it is for everyone. Play with your words until you breathe life into them.
A sample of my poetry from last year:
for the energy that it is
for the desire that dares
for the place that dwells within
desire daring to dwell
to make its way up and out
to take shape in words, sounds, and art
this daring desire
that dwells within
the fire is burning
building into a bonfire
building into creation
