Open – Poets on the Page

When you’re lying to yourself

and you know laughing is the best medicine

but laughing seems like another lifetime

dropping all the pretense

dropping all that isn’t me

to uncover

discover

the me that begs to be set free

stumbling, fumbling

looking for the smile that warms

from the inside out

“Sometimes poets write what we wish we could say, and they tell us what we need to know. The poems in Wild Woman Waking lead us to a place where we can proudly refuse to be “bent and broken”; instead, they document a journey to self-acceptance, peace, and understanding – where in a community of women, we celebrate and dance as Mud Women. We become women of spirit and keepers of our own keys.” ~Beth Camp

  1. When you want to compliment a poem but the author seems so confident and experienced with poetry, you wonder, what can I say. That’s how i feel
It’s well written, beautiful and thought provoking. Thank you for the poetry prompts and the Facebook page, I am enjoying them both.
