During this past year I’ve been reconnecting with my feelings and intuition. I lost my connection with my feelings and intuition because I stayed in a relationship longer than I should have and in the process stopped trusting myself. I know, we aren’t suppose to use should or we “should all over ourselves” but, I know it would have been better for both of us if I had been able to leave sooner. I also know what is done is done but the damage was part of the consequences. I stopped believing in possibilities and trusting my inner knowing that has always been there for me, at least since I started trusting it when I was in my twenties and I’m now 53.
Thankfully I put in the time and energy to heal that part of me and, for the most part, I have reconnected with my feelings and intuition. I am once again, hearing my inner voice and trusting to take the steps that are moving me forward. Hopefully, if you are having a similar issue, you will put in the time and energy for your own healing.
On to the prompt for this shadow timing while we are in Mercury Retrograde. This is a continuation from a Mercury Retrograde series that I began in 2014, Experience Change and Open to Your Inner Writer. Though you don’t have to go through from the beginning, you might want to as it will add depth and has pieces that we won’t cover again from this point forward. Also, you don’t have to be a writer to use these prompts, you can use them in your journal for your own personal journey or you can share them on your blog, use them for your stories, memoir, or poetry. However you want to use them is right and perfect for you.
I decided to do things a little differently this time and I’m using Tarot cards to help with the questions. We begin with the Ace of Cups which is all about new beginnings and deep emotions. The card on the right is from the deck, Celtic Dragon Tarot by D.J. Conway and Lisa Hunt and represents – “Joy; fertile period.” The middle card is from The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans but I use the unofficial interpretations from Carrie Mallon’s website – “A vessel containing the potential for all emotional states.” The card on the right is from the Mythical Goddess Tarot by Sage Holloway and Katherine Skaggs – “Emotional breakthrough into new dimensions of feelings.”
I then pulled a card from the Mythical Goddess Tarot to take it a deeper, 6 of Earth (Pentacles/coins) Success. This tells me that if you are willing to do the work you will be successful in reconnecting to your feelings and intuition.
The focus of this Mercury Retrograde is to remember love, that you are love, that you are lovable, that you can learn to trust yourself again.
(If you are working these prompts for a story, this could pertain to your main character or even the antagonist. the same for the next question. Remember you can use these prompts for fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or just for yourself).
Before you begin, listen, move, and dance to, World on Fire by Sarah McLachlan. As you move, focus on loosening up within your body, to get the energy moving from your toes up through your legs, through your torso, down your arms to your fingers and up to the top of your head. Let go of any stuck energy that you feel within your body.
1. When was the last time that you believed and trusted in your feelings, your intuition, where it was confirmed in someway, that your feelings and intuition were right? Write for five to ten minutes in your journal, notepad, or online in Evernote or 750words.com . Longer if necessary if the words are flowing out of you.
2. What damage caused you to stop believing in your feelings and intuition? Did it happen suddenly or did you not realize it was happening until one day you just didn’t trust yourself anymore? Write for five to ten minutes. Longer if necessary if the words are flowing out of you.
3. Listen, move and dance to, Elements by Lindsey Stirling. Begin moving slowly at first, feeling the music in your body, in your heart, in your soul as it builds. Dance out whatever it was that made you stop believing in yourself.
Write down anything that came up for you.
4. Now sit quietly, close your eyes and listen to, There is Only Love by Karen Drucker. See and feel your heart opening, see your heart filling with love from the universe, God, your higher power, Goddess, whatever it is that is Divine for you. Allow it to Reawaken, reactivate your inner knowing.
5. Listen, dance and move to, Byron Metcalf – Heart Warriors, as you set the intention to reintegrate and stay open to your feelings, and begin to trust them and your intuition again.
This is a new beginning for you, to re-acknowledge and regain the connection to your soul, to realign to your path of purpose and to love yourself again.
You may not know where it will lead but the point is to enjoy the new beginning, live in the moment and allow your love to grow from the inside out. It needs to be about you first. Then, if you so choose, you can extend that love to another person, or send the love out into your community. Of course it would be nice to do that anyway regardless of whether you have a significant other or are looking for one, or maybe, you choose your own company for now. The choice is up to you.
Each day is a single step, take this step and then come back tomorrow to take the next step. If you do the work, you will begin to see and feel improvements in your life. If you feel resistance to doing the work, go to the beginning post of, Experience Change and Open to Your Inner Writer, it can help you let go of your resistance.
If you haven’t gone through the first 7 posts in the series and you want to take this even deeper, return and work through them as needed.

“Sometimes poets write what we wish we could say, and they tell us what we need to know. The poems in Wild Woman Waking lead us to a place where we can proudly refuse to be “bent and broken”; instead, they document a journey to self-acceptance, peace, and understanding – where in a community of women, we celebrate and dance as Mud Women. We become women of spirit and keepers of our own keys.” ~Beth Camp
