Get Moving Monday – #NaNoWriMo Break

We are into the sixth day of #NaNoWriMo and I don’t know about you, but I’ve been glued to my laptop. Sometimes even I can forget how important it is to get up and move, let alone eat, sleep, and use the facilities. Shower anyone?

Take a break and get moving to start your week off right! I know, I know, the words! The words will still be there and maybe even better once you get up and move to the music. We, as writers, sit around writing all day long and need movement to keep our bodies working and to keep our words flowing to the page. Besides, music can lift your mood.

Alright you Nanites! It’s time to put on some music and dance! Oh look, it’s a new Lindsey Stirling video!

I have been using, Mapping the Hero’s Journey with Tarot by Arwen Lynch, which has been phenomenal, to write my story for NaNoWriMo this year. I didn’t have any idea of what story I was going to write before using her book. It’s working! At the time of writing this post, I have 15,342 words written for my fantasy novel!  And the story is flowing almost faster than I can get it written. Any time I start to feel stuck I go back to the book, pull a card(s), and the words flow.

I am pretty determined to finish this year because I never have before and some of the things I’ve done to keep me motivated are;

  • Offline writing buddy who I check in with regularly.
  • Twitter #wordmongering buddy, we meet almost daily to sprint those words on the page.
  • Encouraging others to keep writing.

Let me know what some of the things you’re doing to keep going. How are the words flowing for you and what’s your word count so far?

Enjoy your week following your words and don’t forget to dance!

Read, Dance, Write, Repeat!

Peace,
Morgan Dragonwillow
